We are out of school today, but on Friday (and continuing on tomorrow), my students did Martin Luther King Jr. research in our Open Library schedule.
I found this research paper in a Teacher's Helper catalog.
It is for any African American during Black History Month, but I decided to pull it for my MLK research.
I called ahead to our librarian, Ms. Million, and she set up a lesson for my kids during open library.
She outlined the paper for the kids up here focusing on key words in the questions.
We used a website called PebbleGo.
It isn't free, however, I would suggest requesting it from your school if you have any funds available.
At Pebble Go, you can research animals, science, biographies, and social studies topics!
Ms. Million had the website on the ActivBoard for students who were struggling to find a specific topic. She would show the students where to find it on this page.
The students worked with their partners and went to work.
Their research skills and reading skills were really challenged, but they found out all about MLK Jr. on their own! They were very proud of themselves.
And since we have today off of school, I had time to create a new freebie!!
Enjoy this freebie!
