This was my first experience with The Magical Product Swap hosted by Mrs. Stanford! I was paired up with Tania from My Second Sense! And what do you know, we actually found out that her school for student teaching is three minutes from my house! Small world. :-)
I browsed through Tania's store and decided to try out her opinion writing pack.
I really enjoyed this pack. We have been working on writing traits throughout the year, and we have not gotten to focus on a specific writing task, like opinion, narrative, memoir, etc. So this was my golden opportunity to dive in!
We started by outlining and discussing these anchor charts that were included in her product.
In this picture, you will see two pictures.
The one of the right is the students outline of:
-hook
-opinion
-detail 1, detail 2, detail 3
-closing
On the left side, you'll see their final writing pieces.
In the product, you will find prompts like these...
And the kids loved it. They were inspired to write because they felt comfortable enough with the topics, but they weren't too young for them either. The topics were just right for their interest level!

I know this is for second grade, but I could definitely use it with my first graders. We are doing opinion writing right now. Loved the pictures! Will definitely be checking this out on TPT tomorrow.
